it's Grandpa's Birthday!

“There are times, however, and this is one of them, when even being right feels wrong. What do you say, for instance, about a generation that has been taught that rain is poison and sex is death? If making love might be fatal and if a cool spring breeze on any summer afternoon can turn a crystal blue lake into a puddle of black poison right in front of your eyes, there is not much left except TV and relentless masturbation. It's a strange world. Some people get rich and others eat shit and die."

Amen, sister.

Thanks for posting that!

Yes, our generation was left with not much reason to live besides victimless crimes, surreal levels of reality-reconstruction, and total madness.

But at least we can try to save animals from cruelty and extinction before the greedheads destroy the oceans, pave the national parks, sell the last tiger for parts, and nail the coffin-lid shut on what's left of the middle class.

Good reasons to live, I think, even if the levels of freedom enjoyed in HST's era are pretty much gone forever.
thanks for posting! Oh how I miss reading the Gonzo papers...
thanks for the post..
You are missed, sir. Got your autograph but never got to meet you.

Been re-reading F&L this week just for the occasion.
